Spring 2014: Motors Northwest decides to turning remaining portion of the lot into a parking lot, but neighbors resist the idea
Summer 2014: Harvest Northwest representative speaks at a South Tacoma Neighborhood Council meeting that Motors Northwest General Manager, JT Curry, is attending. Afterward he approaches neighbors about turning the lot into a community garden
August 2014: Charrie Heyward and Karen Wild gather several neighbors at the South Tacoma library to discuss their desire for a community garden. There is some energy and they agree to proceed by meeting with JT at Morors Northwest
September 2014: Six neighbors, along with a representative from Harvest Northwest meet in Motors Northwest office to hear JT Curry's desire for the garden. He shared that he would like a space that is safe and attractive. The neighbors agree with these guidelines.
October 2, 2014: Six neighbors meet at First Congregational Church to discuss moving forward. At this meeting Charrie Hayward agrees to serve as coordinator, Tricia and Sherry agree to serve as co-treasurers and Ken Sikes agrees to serve in the communication role. The team lacks a garden coordinator and Karen Wild agrees to ask around.
December 29th, 2014: Approved for Master Gardener Intern. Begin work on presentation for the "Master Gardener Fair" at WSU Extension on March 10th 6:45-8:00.
